2011 spring. summer collection "1 1 root 2"

Inspired by Root2 and the idea of truth being progressive, spring’s minimalist collection from Cy Choi takes shape around a neutral wardrobe of clean lines and fine attention to detail. Featuring James Powderly photographed by K.Jin, the lookbook showcases a large array of suiting realized for situations, formal and informal.

From relaxed wrinkled trousers to short sets and coordinating coats, designer Chul Young Choi improves upon a carefully constructed vision that finds its season’s focus in the precise cuts of the revamped pocket of the future.

The discovery against logical reality which is familiar with our customary truth gives us unconventional impression and the novelty. This changes our ordinary life. When it is positive, we skim off the prejudice and perceive it as a truth.

This challenge of the truth tries a door to the infinite possibility of communication which broadens a wide range of the truth and open a new prospect. 11root2 is symbolic of the idea of this season. It was the epoch-making discovery about that time the integer was the absolute truth for centuries. It approved the truth is progressive and showed the possibility of endless vibration.

London College of Fashion MA Graduate 2009

Kate Yun Ju Ko's career began as a fashion designer in South Korea before moving to London to study for her MA in Fashion Design & Technology at the London College of Fashion.

Kate's latest collection was inspired by the graceful forms taken by jellyfish in the sea. She has recreated the dazzling appearance of jellyfish by using layers of sheer silk chiffon and jersey combined with silicon. In this work, hand-pleated delicate fabrics and a soft colour palette of toffee, caramel creams, lemon and blue hues work together to create garments that are well-structured, voluminous and elegant.

The collection won Kate the Second runner-up Award at the LCF MA show at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the coveted On/Off Reinvents Award to exhibit at the London Fashion Week in February 2009.

Kate's dresses were exhibited at the Science Museum during the London Fashion Week in February 2009 and at the Neo Couture Exhibition at the Fashion Space Gallery, London, from March to April 2009.

Her garments were also put in the spotlights by UK Nylon, Vogue, fashion 156, and F Tape.
