Artificial Beauties , When Technology and Science Meets with Fashion
Collaboration project with Stefanel

Master in Fashion Design Thesis Project 2010

The key motive of  this project is to express the human body from my point of view as a fashion designer. This project isinspired by technology and science which I have applied it to fashion. I have explored the use  of 3D laser body scanning and 3D modeling progamme to transferthe data into knitted fabrics. I used human body scanned data as the foundation and developed various jacquard patterned knits. The garments not only represent the digitalized human body graphically, but it also represents the figure of anatomy and textures of materials.

Designer Youngli Lee has recently been named by Selfridges as one of its 25 favorite UK talents to launch a new initiative, which gives each creative the chance to produce their own window display. Besides this the MA graduate of the London College of Fashion was recognized in 'Ones to Watch' by Vauxhall Fashion Scout and has already completed a diffusion collection for the online fashion retailer ASOS. Lilee, who showed her final MA collection last year on the V&A catwalk, was awarded the highly commended prize for her exquisite creations. This upcoming Brit just knows how to captivate an audience with elegant, sophisticated creations that show off her intricate attention to detail.

Originally from South Korea, Youngli Lee, or Lilee as she prefers to be known, came to London to study at the prestigious London College of Fashion. After graduating from the MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear course this year, she embarked on the MA}ke project, a mentoring design initiative which sees her producing her LiLee for ASOS collection. Known for her exquisite sculptural detailing using French rope; Lilee creates striking twists on classic designs, which both transform and flatter the female silhouette.

Hotly tipped as one to watch by both Vogue and Elle, Lilee’s work has already graced the pages of Dazed and Confused, Marie Claire and In Style. We caught up with her to find out how it feels to be one of the most sought after design graduates of the year.
