K.ONE 2010

K.ONE is a stunning built-in furniture with an innovative bicromatic effect given by the contrasting finishing, glossy/matt lacquered or wood with lacquered. 45 degrees cut, ease the internal angles to give the perfect proportion for a particular visual experience. The furniture attracts all eyes immediately thanks to its door which it’s like waving in the void. A precious particular is the internal with the same finishing of the external. K.ONE represents Rifra’s renew process as it includes what the firm is: style and constant innovation

BOWL 2010

In charge as art director for Rifra since 2008, Byung Soo Zocchi is a discrete and thoughtful designer, nearly mysterious, who – just like he ponders on the words to pick when speaking – focuses and cherish details in order to give utmost quality its due priority. His creative work, in fact, has met international acknowledgment in several occasions. For years this Italian artist of Korean origins has been working for the most famous labels of Italian interior decoration to create astonishing projects.

ABRAHAM

The very first idea and intention was the principle of “straddling” any shape of construction. All details of the shape shall be streaming and a homogeneous overall impression was the main aim. To reach this effect the textile is bended over a slightly metal frame.

NORI  prototype

Bentwood chair. At the Promosedia Caiazza Memorial Challenge in Udine, we were invited to design a chair. The prototype were manufactured at Formholz Becker.

Patrick Frey has created the Nook stool and bench in collaboration with the German furniture brand Vial. The furniture series is made using a unique material called VarioLine®. The material is widely used in automobile and marine industries, but has been used in furniture design for the first time. The VarioLine® is also weatherproof,  UV-resistant and easily recyclable. Both stool and bench are made from the single piece of material.

Patrick Frey was born in Seoul, South Korea. In 2007 he founded Patrick Frey Studio for Design.  The studio is working for companies such as Nils Holger Moormann, Bree, Authentics, Richard Lampert, Elmar Flötotto, Vial  and others. In the first year Patrick Frey already won the highly endowed prize for junior designers, the Lucky Strike Junior Design Award.  Many of his products won international prizes, including the iF Product Design Award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award, Design Award  Baden Wuerttemberg. 2010, he teaches at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim.

The Bojaki collection of inflatable, foldable, flat-pack housewares & furniture aims to integrate the user into the manufacturing process, strengthening the user’s bond to the piece while easing on transportation & production costs.

Though the fabric looks soft & squishy, it is very rigid making it sturdy enough to hang or hold the weight of a sitting person. Consistent use of buckles, strings, & eyelets to bind the unique fabric ensure aesthetic continuity though shapes & purposes vary from piece to piece.

New graduate Jy Yeon Suh from Central Saint Martins has created a new design process involving inflating fabrics with a special foam. The result is a collection of playful homewares with a unique “cushioned” aesthetic. The ‘BOJAKI’ collection makes use of this new manufacturing process for homewares to combat the negative side-effects of mass manufacturing, consumption and transporation.
